Beliefs
Church of the Incarnation is part of a long and rich Christian tradition. Together with the Church past and present, we affirm that the Apostle's Creed is a helpful summary of Scripture. Designed to be brief, it does not set out faith in all its details, but rather provides for the community a wide set of boundaries that free us to explore how to live well together before the Mystery of God.
Apostle's Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.
You don't have to "buy" this ancient formula to be a part of Incarnation. You only need to be interested in exploring what it might mean to allow an ancient story to shape your imagination. Every week we come together in a service that involves speaking and listening, singing and praying, laughing and being silent, eating and drinking.
