Affiliation

Incarnation is affiliated with a community of churches known as "Disciples" churches (including Disicples of Christ, Christian Churches, and Churches of Christ).  The Disciples tradition is a Protestant stream of Christianity that emphasizes the shaping power of Scripture, unity among all of God's people, and informal institutional networks.

The people who are a part of Incarnation come from a variety of Christian backgrounds and traditions.  Others have either very thin or non-existent religious affiliations.  Incarnation has been influenced by a variety of movements.  Along with the Catholic Church, Incarnation values the ancient liturgy, theology, prayers, and traditions of the early church.  Along with the evangelical tradition, Incarnation values habits of reading Scripture that signal its power to shape our lives.  And along with American Protestant Churches, Incarnation sees itself called to practices of justice, serving the city in ways that enable the flourishing of all.
